For more than a decade, the annual Fisher House Gala has been supporting the Fisher House Foundation and for the 13th year in a row, Fisher House has received a 4-star rating (the highest possible) from Charity Navigator. An achievement less than 1% of the the thousands of charities they rate has accomplished.
Fisher House is also one of only three non-profits serving Veterans and the military to receive an A+ rating from ChairtyWatch (Formerly American Institute of Phylanthropy). They spends less than 8% of revenue on fundraising, management and general expenses. This means that 92% of every dollar received is available for program.
Currently Fisher House has built 70 houses. Since 1 January 2016, they have opened new Fisher Houses at the VA Medical Centers in Portland, OR; Las Vegas, NV; Tucson, AZ; and Milwaukee, WI.
On June 9, 2016, Fisher House dedicated a new house in Fort Bragg, NC, and the Aberdeen Chapter was recognized on the donor plaque thanks to the proceeds from last year's gala. Fisher House expects to complete and dedicate another house at the VA Medical Center in Long Beach, CA in September - for a total of 6 new houses opened in 2016.
Last year's Gala also funded scholarships for two students, Madison Davis and Andrea Sipos, from APG through Fisher House Foundation's Scholarship for Military Children program. Click here to see the 2016 Scholarship Winners!
This summer we hope to continue our very aggressive construction plan to meet the tremendous need. We plan to break ground for new Fisher House construction at the VA Medical Centers in Albuquerque, NM; Orlando, FL; Houston, TX (Third house!!), West Haven, CT; and a second house at Keelser Air Force Base in Mississippi. Funds from this year's gala will help with that new construction.
