Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger Speaking with AUSA Aberdeen Chapter

Congressman Ruppersberger
Please joing us in welcoming Congressman C.A. Dutch Ruppersberger to our luncheon on 20 September, 2016. He is serving his seventh term in the United States House of Representatives for the citizens of Maryland’s 2nd District. Congressman Ruppersberger is known as a common sense consensus builder who works with Members from both sides of the aisle to get results for Maryland and the nation.

Congressman Ruppersberger currently serves on the powerful House Appropriations Committee, including the Defense and State, Foreign Operations and Related Programs subcommittees. The Appropriations Committee is responsible for allocating hundreds of billions of federal dollars each year.

The assignment comes after a committee-record 12 years serving on the House Intelligence Committee, including four as Ranking Member. Congressman Ruppersberger was the first Democratic freshman ever appointed to the committee, which oversees the collection and analysis of intelligence from around the world to ensure our national security and prevent potential crisis situations — especially terrorist activity. He traveled to more than 50 countries including Iraq, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Yemen, China and Venezuela during his time on the committee.

The APG community is making a difference in the lives of those deployed, take a moment and read the thank you note from MG Harry Greene as he had recently received some of the boxes that this community packs and ships to those deployed. Contributions dropped off in the footlockers around the post and community still send the message to those far away that we haven't forgotten them.

Hats off to Barb Schirloff, Diane Zoeller, AAAA, AUSA, and all those that make this happen.

Our chapter is collecting items to send to our deployed troops. We are busy establishing collection areas on Aberdeen Proving Ground and the greater Aberdeen area. We will update this site with designated areas as they become available. Our chapter has joined forces with the Army Aviation Association of America, Mid-Atlantic Chapter to cover postage costs. Donations of the suggested items or financial donations to assist with postage and supplies are welcome.

Please contact me for additional information or to volunteer your time or a collection area.
